The Moonsparrow Collection by Carolyn Wolfe is a real treat to read. A wonderful poem, A Wooded Midnight Fantasy, sets the mood for this group of stories, tendering it with much mystical sensuousness, as in , "in the flowers... a rustle of wings..." In the first short tale, Moonsparrow, we discover the narrator is a witch. Childhood wonder soars as the voice of an innocent, young girl happens upon a fairy circle she wants to protect in Lisa's Secret. With a bit of a different pace, Truck Stop Virgin, draws you into the small town scandal brought on by a newcomer woman with no man or child enjoying herself in macho territory by having an afternoon beer, all alone!

Other highlights of this collection include, Thyme and Tarot, featuring a memory of a grandmother using tarot cards with her love of gardening, as The World Card comes into play. "Her red hair used to fly into an electric dance before a thunderstorm."

My personal favorite is, The Beltane Tale, where the main character's moonlit walk in the woods away from a forest festival leads to mystery and a blush from a lone flute player, "The Green Man, The Forest Lord Himself." The very last selection in this book is Mark U. Rye, and what a fantastic tale it is! You really do not expect the outcome, and you find out so much more about the "communicator" other than the fact that the U in his name stands for Ulysses, and that he was a major charmer with his gift of song and talent for explaining many worldly things, such as, the reasons for the shape of apple seeds. "That Mark U. Rye was a one and that's a fact!" The Moonsparrow Collection is a must-read!
